Affiliate Disclosure

Last updated: May 2026.

The short version: this site earns commissions on some links. You don’t pay extra. We tell you which links and exactly how it works.

What “affiliate link” actually means

An affiliate link is a tracking URL. You click it, you make a purchase on the destination site, the seller knows the sale came from us, and they pay us a small percentage — usually 2–6%. The price you pay is identical to what you’d pay walking through the seller’s front door.

Which links on this site are affiliate links

  • “Book Now,” “Check Pricing” and similar CTAs sending you to a cruise line’s booking flow
  • “View on Amazon” and other product buttons on Gear and review pages
  • Any link routed through /go/ on our domain (our cloaked redirect)
  • In-line product mentions where we explicitly link to a vendor

Who pays us

  • Amazon Associates — gear roundups and product reviews
  • CJ Affiliate — Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Celebrity, MSC, and several others
  • Impact and Awin — additional cruise lines and travel-service partners
  • Direct cruise line and travel agency partners — a handful pay us a flat per-booking commission

What affiliate revenue does not buy

Editorial control.

  • Ratings are independent. Cruise line ratings reflect passenger sentiment, ship-by-ship inspections, and our own sailings.
  • We criticize partners openly. Several cruise lines we earn from get 3-star ratings (or worse) on specific dimensions.
  • We promote non-partners. Disney Cruise Line and Viking have no public affiliate programs we can join. Both still get prominent coverage on the site because their products earn it.
  • No pay-for-ranking. No cruise line can pay us for a higher rating, a “best of” placement, or homepage real estate. Not negotiable, not now, not ever.

FTC compliance

This disclosure complies with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising (16 CFR Part 255), and equivalent consumer protection guidance in the UK, EU, Canada, and Australia.
